I haven't really got off to the best start here, have I? My Wacom dying really was a bit of a killer, and it took me a few weeks to get some money together to buy a quick replacement. I ended up getting a A6 Intuos 2 on Ebay - way smaller than I was used to, but it'll serve well enough until I make some more money for a bigger tablet. And as if that hurdle wasn't enough of a setback, just a couple of days after I got the tablet I was flattened by a bugger of a cold/flu thing which left me pretty much bed-bound for the best part of a month. Just one thing after another.

Anyway, enough of all that nonsense. I've finally started to get my productivity up again over the past couple of weeks. I've been throwing out pages for a few small projects, and I also got around to mailing out submission folios to a bunch of mid-level imprints a couple of weeks ago. I'll post the pics I used to the submission in a second, and next post I'll talk about which imprints I sent to, how I found them, and anything else about that part that I think might be worth mentioning.

Okay, let's start things off. I'm currently stuck without my beloved Wacom - it finally died on me at the weekend after 8 years good service, and I haven't yet been able to get a replacement. Until I get that sorted I'm trying to figure out this blog thing, and sorting out my new submission folio. Once I have my folio pieces sorted out I'll post them up here so everyone can see what I'll be sending out, but in the meantime I'm gonna try posting a wee slideshow of some of my colouring ... hopefully this will work.

Alrighty then! I'm a bit of a stranger to the world of blogs, so this is likely to be a bit messy until I figure things out properly. Bear with me, peeps. Also, any tips or suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

Anyway, there is a point to me joining the blogosphere (are they still calling it that?) at this late date. I've been into comic colouring for a few years now, and until now I've had a lot of fun working on private commissions and very small-press projects. However, I've finally reached a point where I'm confident that I might be able to start getting work from some of the established publishers in the industry, so that's my primary goal for this year. I'll be using this blog to keep a record of what I get up to and what I'm working on, my failures and successes, and anything else that occurs to me which might be of interest. And let's be honest, probably a load of random junk too - that's what blogs are, after all.

Hopefully my experiences in trying to break into comics might be of interest or use to others on the same track. Or at the very least it'll serve as a record of what I go through getting there.
